A third year student at the HIPP0CRAFT space academy, Concuss is working hard to fulfill his dream of becoming an UMA pilot (a dream he shares with his childhood friend, Viscera). Along the way he's made plenty of friends, excelled in his studies, and has not had any major emotional crises that's he's secretly been repressing. He's fine!
(He's fine, because he says he's fine. Concuss is the narrator, so if he says it then it must be true, right?)

Viscera had never known a time before the explosions, she and Concuss growing up with a new crater greeting them on their way to school. But rather than resent it, Viscera decided she wanted to be the one doing the exploding; and so she set out the HIPP0CRAFT space academy to learn to be an UMA pilot.
Now a freshly-graduated and with her very own TR4-UMA, Visera flies around space fighting battles in an interstellar war. Everyone back home keeps asking when she's going to return and defend her home planet--as if she'd ever planned on doing that. Um, hello? She just wants to blow stuff up and fly around space in her sick new ride.
Her family does not appreciate her priorities, but Viscera is not particularly bothered by that. It's hard to be bothered by anything when you're the lucky owner of some plasma canons and a cute boyfriend.

The product of a troubled childhood, Lacerae spent his teen years in and out of hospitals due to his poor mental health. After his life more-or-less stabilized, he's strived to bring positivity into the lives of others. With his sweet and earnest nature he quickly charmed much of the student body aboard the HIPP0CRAFT, including Concuss and Viscera--the latter of which he started dating midway through his second year.
Now in his third year and in a long-distance relationship, he's lonely, uncertain of his future, and mired in indecision. He's trying not to make it anyone else's problem, though.

Chronically ill and disabled from an early age, she developed an interest in nursing during her many hospitlizations. This is what brought her to the HIPP0CRAFT space academy, where she met Lacerae and fell hopelessly in love.
The more she listened to him rhapsodize about his beloved girlfriend, the more she couldn't help but wish this sweet man would adore her that same way. But in her attempts to make him look her way, she ends up drawing the ire of Lacerae's protective best friend...

A mechanic-in-training who once crossed paths with the academy's piloting prodigy IV and hasn't stopped thinking about them since. Unfortunately, the two have never had a conversation.
Vagus is a man who prefers being a passive observer and keeping a comfortable distance, not getting himself involved. . . until he does.

Intravenous (or IV for short) is a piloting prodigy and fourth year at the HIPP0CRAFT space academy. Is lauded as a hero after helping defend the academy from an attack in her third year.
While she is treated as an almost mythical figure, revered from a distance, at their heart they are just an awkward loner who can't help but be a bit too serious.

The proud center of a frankly impressive polycule of lesbians, including IV. Her connections, along with her general chattiness and good rapport across the academy, has made her deeply immersed in the HIPP0campus's gossip mill. (It doesn't help that she can't seem to keep anything to herself.)
Despite her big mouth, Suture is a respected and highly competent member of the community, as well as an emotional pillar for those around her.
